Arthur J. “Jackson” Stark
January 24, 1946 - December 16, 2010
God gave us Art 64 years ago and a day we will always remember to say our farewells...
December 29 donned one of those rare Puget Sound days filled with a full display of nature’s power and beauty. The day was as intense as our feelings for this man we came to honor, a true American hero, friend, and warrior. We felt Art’s presence through skies filled with wind, snow, ice pellets, towering cumulus clouds, and brilliant sunshine illuminating the Olympic Mountains over which he loved to fly. It was not an ordinary day: Art was not an ordinary man! At precisely 1300 hours we stood in the cold clean afternoon air as three giant Army CH-47Ds piloted by fellow Hook-ers thundered overhead in tribute to Art. The American Flag stood at half-mast, all eyes and prayers were lifted skyward. Art will not be forgotten.
